Phila. Holds Free Sessions on Emergency Preparedness
from KYW
September is National Preparedness Month and the city of Philadelphia is making extra efforts to get people to do more than think about it.
The city's Office of Emergency Preparedness has four free public sessions in the remainder of September including one Wednesday night in the Northeast.
Spokeswoman Joan Przybylowicz says they cover two related sets of circumstances, shelter-in-place and evacuate. For both, you'll need bottled water, a battery operated flashlight and radio, a first aid kit, but to hit the road you'd also want energy bars and a map:
"So you want those types of things for everyone in your household and even think about you pet. You should even have a go-bag for your pet with supplies."
