Default N.E. PA Open Carry "Meet-&-Greet". Interest?

From reading threads at opencarry.org it seems that OC meetings have become popular in various regions of various states, particularly Virginia.

Anyone interested in having NEPA OC meetings?

ETA: the intent is to meet with like minded people and socialize as well as discuss the issues. Maybe get some potential OC'ers out actually OC'ing that need the comfort of OC'ing in a "crowd" of sorts to take their first step...
Of course OC would NOT be required to attend, only encouraged

I would like to do one of these, it just depends where because I'm in central pa. I am willing to drive though, so when more people show interest post up a location.

I think it would be nice to have a large one in say pittsburgh, or whatever other larger city allows open carry(i'm not sure on the philly laws on OC) and try to get some media coverage just because this issue needs to be brought as close to the front page as possible so more and more people accept it

Depending on which direction the most interest comes from we can surely bias the meeting location in that direction

yeah, thats what I figured. Should be extra interesting because I am 19 and I can bring another 19 yro, and we both open carry. I'm gonna go ahead and consult mapquest on this one to see how far I can go.

EDIT: I checked how far away Wilkes Barre is, and it is def. do-able for me to drive there. I'm sure that this thread was started because of what happened to that guy on opencarry.org, so i say we should hold it somewhere in wilkes barre lol.

we should try to have more than one of these, and maybe even try to do a statewide day where several groups meet across the state?!

    Great ideas.

If your so inclined why not start a thread for a Pittsburgh area meet.

These are great opportunities to get the more timid out to OC. Some find it easier to OC with another or group initially (safety in numbers?)

I would like to see one on say the steps of the allegheny county courthouse, with full news coverage. I think that would dramatically change this issue in a hurry. They would also have interviews with the sheriff, and local CLEO's i'm sure. This issue needs as much media coverage as possible

I think a more subtle approach will make for better "conditioning" for the sheeple.
If they (sheeple and mis-informed CC'ers) start to see people doing it in everyday course of life (stores, dining, parks, walking your dog, etc) it will assimilate more pleasantly than an in-your-face type of civil gathering at a gov property.
    Of course this is JMHO.
I have participated in just such types of gatherings in the past and all they did was give the media something to sensationalize in a negative light when they reported it.

I vote for baby steps on this issue.

Regardless, you seem like the guy volunteering to organize the west PA event.. no?
