    Default reloading powder for .308 and 30-06

    i am looking for a powder that i can share between .308 and 30-06.I am going to use a 150 grn bullet for both and if anybody has any good load data,let me know

    I don't load 308 but I know those that do. My 30-06 likes 52gr of R15. I understand that at one time R15 was the powder used by Uncle Sam in 308.

    You didn't say what your loading for. Bolt or Semi-auto, it makes a difference.

    In this size cartridge IMR 4895 has been used for years. Check you manual for values. You do own a reloading manual don't you?

    yes i do own a manual,just want to here from other people.the 30-06 is for a m1 garand and the .308 is for a FAL.Both of them are semi

    4895 or something very close in burn rate would be a good choice, from what I've read, the Garand and 4350 (or slower) don't get along very well.

    For the Garand I would suggest 48.0-48.5 gr of IMR 4895. Don't load the Garand too hot or you will mess up the op rod. What your looking for is a powder about the speed of 4895 and you want a muzzle velocity of 2800 FPS.


    I can't help you with the FAL.
