Default How close to houses are you allowed to shoot?

I am sitting here on my computer when I hear two shot gun blasts.

Then I hear tree branches falling in my yard. Apparently, he shot through the trees towards my house.

I ran out & yelled "Hey, that was kinda close. " My husband was walking the dog on the other side of the lake & he heard me yelling!!

Isn't there some rule of thumb for safe shooting?

Scared the bejeezes out of me.

    Rant over.

Not sure about target shooting, but, PAGC says 150 yds. for hunting, unless the owner gives permission.

If you know who it was, or have a backtag #, call PAGC, and file a complaint.

Even if your 150yds away you still must be aware of your surroundings and are not supposed to fire in the direction of houses or buildings. You are responsible for the bullet you fire no matter what.

    Thanks for the info.

By the time I got to the lake, he was gone.

My husband did see him haul ass after I yelled.

It was scary to see tree branches being shot off next to the deck.

Safety Zones: It is unlawful to hunt for, shoot at, trap, take, chase or
disturb wildlife within 150 yards of any occupied residence, camp, industrial
or commercial building, farm house or farm building, or school or
playground without the permission of the occupants. It is unlawful to
shoot into a safety zone, even if you are outside of the zone. Driving game,
even without a firearm or bow, within a safety zone without permission is
unlawful. For comparison, think of a safety zone as about one and a half
football fields. Hunting on hospital and institutional grounds, and in cemeteries,
is also prohibited. It is unlawful to discharge a firearm within 150
yards of a Game Commission vehicle whose occupants are releasing pheasants.
The safety zone for archery hunters statewide, including those
using crossbows, is 50 yards. Archery hunters carrying muzzleloaders
during any muzzleloader season must abide by the 150-yard safety zone
regulation. Around playgrounds, schools, nursery schools or day-care centers,
the safety zone remains 150 yards.
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.

Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.
