    Default Remington 700 Range Report

I finally got to do some shooting today. This was my first trip to the range to practice since I installed the new stock on my rifle. I gotta say the rifle is more consistant with a "Quality" stock on it. With the factory SPS stock on the rifle I was averaging around .75 - 1 MOA. Today every group was less than .75 MOA most were .5 MOA. I figured the new stock would help a little, but not this much.

Has anyone else had similar results or is this just some kind of fluke?

This 3 round group is from 200 yds, I placed a dime on the target for size comparison. (I wasn't shooting at the dime) This size group was the norm today.

    Good shootin'!

700's are pretty accurate. Mine will usually shoot 10 shots MOA. (The gun shoots much better than me). I always fire 10 rounds when sighting in. It gives me a better idea of the consistency, When you get down to it though, it's only the first shot out of the barrel that really counts, right?

What caliber is the rifle and what ammo are you shooting?

The rifle is .308 and shooting Federal Gold Medal Match 175gr BTHP. I am still sorting through the rest of the pics to post pics of the better groups. I took the pics with my phone so some are not the best quality. Here is my 200 yd zero target.

ETA: The center group is 3 rounds.

Very nice. I really do like the 5R stock. I need to get to the range more with mine. Still not a 100% confident on my scope.

Which scope did you go with? I am still using the A1 Opitcs that I started with. I will be replacing it soon, just saving some money and waiting for the right deal to pop up. My current scope is very functional out to about 600 yds. It doesn't like to return to 100 yd zero if I dope out beyond that.
Since I don't get the chance to shoot further than that on a regular basis, this will do while I research and shop around.

Millet LRS ... at first it wasn't holding POI. The second outing, it did. Need to put some more rounds through it before I'm confident.
