    Default Home made target stand

I needed a target stand for shooting here at home and I needed something cheap, so I looked around on the net.

    found this: http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/edu24.htm

So I went to the hardware store today and picked up enough PVC pipe and angles and Ts to make 2 of those target holders. Cost me $20.26 (the hardware store even cut the pipe to the specified size for me).

They didn't have the right size pieces of wood I needed for the arms so I came home and scrounged around. Dad helped me cut 2 pieces of 2x4 down so they would fit.

I also didn't feel like it was sturdy enough with just the U shape so I took parts that were meant for the 2nd stand and made a complete rectangle, and it seems much better. I'll just have to get 2 more 16" pieces of PVC and 2 more angle and some more wood to complete the 2nd stand.

It's not the prettiest stand but it seems like it will work. Didn't get to use it yet though - maybe on Monday.

My homebuilt stand is similar to that. I made mine so it would hold two targets side by side.

I made a half dozen of these using 2x4's, furring strips and drywall screws.

I did have some with PVC bases, but the wood is more durable.

Political signs or Going out of business signs ( Free standing Corragated plastic on a metal step-stake) make great instant target stands. Not only are you cleaning up PA roadways
but you are recycling all that plastic.

Keep it up, and pretty soon, it'll be "Live here for 11 months payment free!"

Watch out - you want to be shooting shoulder-height. If the target is too low, the shot could ricochet off of the ground behind it, then up over the berm.

Just don't shoot your PVC up.

    Looks good, cheap and sturdy.

What are the measurements for the 2x4's?
