    Default LTCF for non-resident

My nephew, a New Jersey resident, is seeking a PA LTCF. He has tried Bradford and Tioga Counties with no luck. In New Jersey he's been printed and approved twice in the past two years to purchase weapons. Does anyone know of a county in Pennsylvania that recognizes the non-resident law?

You have to have a CARRY permit or license issued by your state of residence if that state issues license. Only residents from 3 states are exempt of the home license requirement: VT, WI, and IL. Purchase permits and NY style residence/target permits will not suffice.

If your nephew has his NJ permit, then he should apply to the Centre County Sheriff, Denny Nau. He will issue to nonresidents provided they have their state license.

You might have a better chance of getting something like a UT or FL license. Neither of these require that you have a license from your own state. And both are accepted in many other states.

Just apply for a non-resident concealed handgu permit from the Virginia State Police - these are accepted in PA and easieer to get than Florida and Utah permits.

Thanks Mike. Just got off the phone with VA State Police. I think that's the best route for my nephew. Good advice.

So, you have to have your actual state's permit, or, will a non-resident permit from another state work?

If you live in WV then you must have a WV permit to get a PA permit.
