Re: If you could have only one 1911...?
I think the Springfield TRP is prob the best deal going in high quality 1911's right now. You can find them ~$1300. A little over your $1k max but well worth it.
I had one and loved it.
I have a Wilson CQB now. Love that one too.

Re: If you could have only one 1911...?
It would be my Wilson CQB, carry it every day, it will shoot under 2" at 25yrds, never had a failure. has well over 10,000rds down the tube. it has been to Gunsite, Thunder ranch, it is like an old friend that you have known forever. it is a firearm no matter what i will never be with out. it defends my family and friends everyday, i got mine when i turned 21 and have had it ever since, i paid $1800.00 for it new back then but now they are $2,500.00. so it is not a pistol for everyone but one well worth the investment.

Re: If you could have only one 1911...?
Probably a TRP full length operator built to SA professional specs(minus the roll marks of course). Close second would be a wilson CQB w/ added magwell.
I've got a TRP operator now and am inlove with it.

Re: If you could have only one 1911...?
Pistol looks great... I really like the finish! The ball cuts look like ass though. I cant believe that they haven't fixed that. My Nighhawk Vickers Recon had the same problem... Its pretty bad when they either don't care or put the wrong slide on the recon frame and ship it anyway... What finish is that?

Re: If you could have only one 1911...?
According to them, it's a polymer coating that they refer to as "Gen. III." I haven't seen much discussion of it, aside from comparison and contrast with finishes such as NP3.
They call the ball cut "chainlink,' and it's supposed to be a feature, not a drawback.
