Anyone know of any private clubs here in Monroe?
I'm really tired of having to drop 15-20 bucks every time I go to sunset hill, and I just refuse to join PPC, I'm not rich enough for that, I live here in Monroe county, I'm not a tourist...
My friend has some property with a natural backdrop but his family runs a business on the land, thus leaving the actual amount of time where we can go shooting there very limited due to the schedual of the business.
I'm looking for a place where I can take my handgun and rifle and get some practice in. Preferably something with an ideal handgun range, not one that is 25 yards. 25 yards is really impractical for self defense purposes.
I'd like to be able to shoot my shotgun there, but that's not really necessary.Last edited by jcabin; August 28th, 2009 at 03:05 PM.

Nice to hear that ShotGun is easy, have you ever tried Skeet. I hear a lot of good things about Palmerton, very nice members only Rifle and Pistol range, low dues, I think $ 20.00 per year, and there's a locked gate to keep non members out. I may give it a try myself in the next few weeks.

i cant see how you could complain about the $10 to shoot all day at sunset. even the $5 for the pulley is worth it. but remember, the new SGL should be open sometime in october up on Rt 423 in Tobyhanna.
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

Well the price for sunset is pretty reasonable. My problem is every time I go in there some asshat tries telling me open carry is illegal and gives me a hard time about some bullshit they think is real law.
ETA: For instance the one guy, who has told me on several occasions its a license to conceal firearms, I offer to show him my license and he says he doesnt want to see it because he already knows what it says.
I don't really want to support a place like that, plus it's always crowded on weekends, and only open till 5pm during the week.
Plus just to take someone shooting with me, who might only do it one time, you need to pay for the membership and then range time and pully.
And you have to wait for them to pass the "instructional safety course" garbage.
I'd rather have a private club where I can come and go as I please, and bring a guest with me and teach them the basics myself instead of having some mall ninja make grunts and attack motions.Last edited by jcabin; August 28th, 2009 at 03:17 PM.

From what I've been told Palmerton is the place, now all we have to do if find out just where the range is and where to send the dues so we can get a key. to get in.

Is there a pit to shoot shotguns at Palmerton. The one thing I miss about NY was Calverton shooting range. It was ten dollars a person to use the pit. You had to throw your own skeets but with a nice automatic thrower I could sit out there all day and shoot.

last I heard Palmerton is not accepting new members
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.
