    Default Military Channel (TV)

Has anyone else been watching the new Special Ops show on the military channel? It’s a show about this guy named Will that is assigned missions to carry out.

It's on on Thursdays at 10pm. In last nights show he needed to gather intel on a rebel camp. He needed to breach their camp, take photos of their weapons that were locked in a trailer and report back to base.

In another show, he needed to rescue 4 hostages that the bad guys kidnapped for ransom.

In each show, he (and the bad guys) carry an m16 loaded with simunitions, so, there is real shooting - but with marker bullets.

So far, it seems pretty interesting. I think there are a lot worse shows on TV that you could waste an hour of your life watching.

So, has anyone else been watching it?

When I remember it's on I do. I keep remembering right about 10:15-10:30 so only have caught the last half of the last two or three shows. It's pretty interesting.

I caught a few episodes. I like the way they briefly describe some tactics. It's a game, sure, but it's fun to watch. It seems like, as the season goes on, either he's making more mistakes or the bad guys are getting better. I like that he has multiple OpFor to engage or evade, too!

I saw the episode with the Hostage Rescue scenario. Pretty neat. My 10 yo Son was enthralled. It took like 10 minutes before he figured out that they were not actually shooting each other. Of course it did not help that I told him it was live fire and that they had to do the show in the Phillipines because you can't just shoot people for a gameshow in the US Once in a while "WHISKEY WHISKEY" would radio that he shot someone or so and so was killed. My Son would look at me and state "are you sure they are not shooting each other?". Ahhh, to be young again

    Be safe (and simulate).

I keep missing it... I will catch up on it soon, it looks like it could be good. Is Costa doing it or is it just someone who looks like him?

I dig the show. My only gripe is that sometimes the camera angles and the way the camera operator moves the camera disorients me and i cant tell what the fuck the Will guy is actually doing or where he is in relation to the bad guys. This was particularly irritating during that large dark building with the hostage situation. It was so dark and the camera was moving so much, i just turned the channel.

I suppose its pretty difficult to try to keep a camera on a guy thats trying to live in the shadows and not be seen, though.

Speaking of the Military channel, i really wish they would do more Top Ten shows. I love those shows! The Top Ten Rifle and the Top Ten Close Quarters Combat weapons shows were pretty badass.

Been watching it from day one and love it !! Only wish I could afford the major bucks to get some simunitions weapons and rounds , that is the ultimate in force on force practice . Next weeks episode he has to get on a freighter from the water and rescue some " scientist hostages " and prevent the OPFOR from manufacturing " dirty bombs "

There was something similar to this back in the Nineties on USA ( Combat Missions), Rudy Boesch ( Original SEAL Plank owner )and very first " Survivor " Episode was the Drill Instructor .

The biggest difference was in Combat Missions they used the standard M.I.L.E.S Gear . Little known factoid . Scott Helvenston the former SEAL and Blackwater contractor that was slaughtered along with the rest of his team in Fullijah Iraq was on this show for its entire run
