    Default Side Saddle Mounting

Did any Mossberg 500 owners use blue LocTite to secure the internal screw when mounting a side saddle shell holder? Recommendations...

I'm trying to remember if I did or not. If I did - that screw goes through to the outside of the receiver and has a nut installed on the side saddle backing plate - I'd put the loctite there (on the nut) instead on on the threads through the receiver.

That's a good idea! Thank you very much.

I've fired a bunch of rounds, slugs, buck, and sport loads out of it since I installed the side-saddle and it has not worked loose.

When we shoot clays at the farm it is nice having the side-saddle loaded up with the shells so I don't have to keep going back to the box to get more shells during our impromptu head-head competitions.

    what he said...

the big thing is the plastic of the side saddle acts as a buffer and doesnt allow the nut to back off since its softer and digs in. kind of like a lock nut...

I put one on my 590 (close enough to the 500 ) but I didn't use any loctite. Works alright so far, I'm sure Murphy will have something to say about that now that I've went and opened my mouth.
