I dont believe so... I think the first time you get a license its on record somewhere. I used to it my first time back in 2000 when I was 13. Since then they now do the licenses on computers at a lot of the places. I know Dicks sporting goods in Pittsburgh over the summer only need my social security number. But I still believe when it was still done by hand I was never asked for it.

I've been trying to take the class for nearly 2 yrs now. Pennsylvania needs to (excuse my french) either !@#$% abolish the requirement or implement a better system.

I've spoken to both my State rep and senator about the issue. Suggested the PA Game Commission create an online wait list OR offer a "mentoree" permit. That allows you to go hunting with another licensed permit holder similar to what youth can do.

Otherwise, the art and tradition of hunting is going to die.

I've recently met with state legislators to discuss this issue. Proposing two items:

    1) A mentoree permit (similar to how youth are handled, where you need to be accompanied by a licensed hunter)

    2) An website update, including an RSS feed and a waiting list.

So my suggestion is call your state rep and legislator, maybe also hit up the ones I contacted (Waugh, Saylor, DePasquale)

What is the rule if you were a resident of another state and can produce a prior out of state license. Will that suffice?

Just FYI, as long as I was previously licensed in PA, all I had to do was check off the box attesting to the fact that I had taken the course.

Does anybody else remember Sugerman's Eynon Drug?

I haven't hunted since the 1980s. I'm gonna take the course over again. Never too old to learn something new, and it'll be fun to see the youngins learning the ropes.
