Choice for a carry revolver
There was a used smith model 10 at the store today. I have been looking into a small carry revolver after coming to the conclusion that my gp100 is too big for the task at the moment(hot weather, trying to keep the wardrobe from looking like I'm always on safari) any advice on whether this used smith, a ruger lcr, a smith 442, or a Taurus 85 should be my choice? I can tell from my gp100 that the sp101 will be a tank but was looking for something... Sexier. Does anyone know if the model 10 is rated +p?

Model 10s are legendary guns, with a century of service behind them. Hard to go wrong. What barrel length is the one you are looking at?
SP101 is a fantastic little gun, and it's .357 Magnum, not .38 Special, though I usually carried .38s. It's an easy carrying compact gun, accurate, and built like a frigging bank vault."Never give up, never surrender!" Commander Peter Quincy Taggart

I carry a 642 and would not have it any other way for light carry.

Re: Choice for a carry revolver
the model 10 is better than all the guns you mentioned, plus it has class and character, that makes it oh so unpretentious.

Re: Choice for a carry revolver
I would go for an airweight S&W in 38spl flavor, hammerless.

Model 10 is a K frame - I look a little smaller for concealed; either a J frame Smith or a Colt Detective Special.

Re: Choice for a carry revolver
It would help if you have determined how you want to carry (OWB, IWB, pocket, etc.). Once that is determined, it'll be easier to make recommendations.
That said, when I carry a revolver, it's either an SP101 carried OWB (under a covering garment) or a Taurus 85 in the pocket.
If you want a gun that's "sexier"...well, that indicates you want to display it (impress your friends?). Maybe you should consider not carrying.Well, pushed 60 too hard so now I am the big SIX-OH. Now I can be a real pain in the ass! And, who says growin' old isn't fun!!

Re: Choice for a carry revolver
I cant speak for anyone else, but I like guns. Not just as tools for self defense, or as sporting arms. But for thier artistic and persnal value as well. I like the look and feel of a well made firearm.
I love hand fit parts, and high levels of craftsmanship.
I love design as well as function.
and so wanting a gun that is "sexy" is not too obscure to me.
me, I just picked up a S&W Model 60, old school
