Looking for pistol range...
Hey fellas, I live in Barto, PA and I am looking for a pistol range where I can shoot steel cased ammo. I have a case of wolf laying around that I want to use up and the only pistol range I know of around myself is French Creek Outfitters in Phoenixville, and they don't allow steel casing to be shot there.
Thanks,
Vince

Re: Looking for pistol range...
First, welcome to the board.
Are you sure that they aren't telling you that you can't shoot steel core bullets and not steel cases.
I've never heard of a range that wont allow steel casings. Now steel core ammo (bullets), i know many place don’t like that because it can go through their backstops.
As to other ranges - sorry, i don't know your area.

Re: Looking for pistol range...
Yup, no steel or aluminum casing at FCO. Only brass or nickel-plated brass allowed.
I haven't been to any other indoor ranges, so I can't speak for their rules, but Gun Gallery in Mount Penn is somewhat local to you. About as local as FCO. I went there once to look around and didn't come away with a good first impression, never been back. But if they allow steel cased ammo, it might be a good spot for you. I'm not familiar with the area East of you, might be something out Allentown way that's quicker to get to.
Good luck,
G.

Re: Looking for pistol range...
Thanks for the welcome, and the replies. I tossed an email out to gun gallery we'll see if they allow steel case ammo. Does anyone else have any range suggestions? Preferably somewhat local, I like to make trips often.
Thanks again, Vince

Yes, I do believe its for easy recycling so I understand the reasoning. I just wish it could be shot anyway and you just take the casings with you.

I think Classic Pistol in Southampton allows it, but you may want to call them and ask.
Their # is (215) 953-7264.

Shimersville is 10 minutes straight up Rt 100 at the light before 100 turns left to Macungie.
The place is kind of seedy but you can shoot almost anything and I don't think you will have a problem as long as you don't put your casings in the bin.If you are gong through Hell, keep going.--Winston Churchill
