    Default New Mag carriers

I need a few more mag carriers and am frustrated in what I'm finding. So, I need some opinions. For the record, I searched and didn't really find what I was looking for.

I have two Blackhawk double stack mag carriers. They work well, seem to be durable etc. I like the fact that they will accept any double stack, but due to how they're made, but they sit away from the body a bit just like their similar holsters.

I tried a leather one that was adjustable, but didn't really like it. I don't necessarily need polymer, but that seems to be where I'm heading.

I think I'd prefer single rather than double; the ability to hold different double stack mags (HK, S&W, Glock); sit closer to the body.

I tried a double Blade Tech at an IPSC match and while built for speed, didn't seem like something I wanted to CC with. They would double as CC and IPSC pouches as I don't have a dedicated IPSC rig, but also believe in practicing (via IPSC) with what I carry.

    Thoughts?

Then let me be the first to ask "Have you looked at Fobus?"

I bought one for my Sigma mags, and couldn't be happier with it. That is, I would be if I could now find the thing. (It got loast in the confusion when someone detonated a small-yield thremonuclear device inside my home, last month).

Actually had a decent grip on the mag, retention was good. It was deep enough to hold the mags close, but shallow enough to make it easy enough to extract in a hurry. The mags didn't protrude away from the body at an angle, making concealment practical.

I have been using the Safariland leather model for Glock mags for about 2 years now. It's been great, I did loctite the adjustment screw in it though, as it would wobble loose, with extended use.

I would not hesitate to recommend them.
This is their single holster, but they make (and I use) a double holster, too.

I will toss my single bladetech for the G19 in my range bag and you can check it out on Thursday at the club.

I use the Blackhawk for my 1911, you are correct about how it sits, but it doesnt matter much on a single stack mag as its already so thin.

The universal double stack holders that are made out of plastic are going to sit a bit further out. I have a few that I use for shoots with my Glock 17 magazines, and they stick out almost 1/2" further than they would if they were designed specifically for my magazines because of the springy panel that keeps the magazines in place. Even if your magazine is the maximum width it can hold, there still has to be room in there for that panel.

If I was going to carrying magazines, I'd probably buy a nice leather one that can be adjusted, like synergy has. Not quite as flexible, and possibly a bit of a pain to switch between different kinds of magazines, but they should sit a good deal closer to the body.

    Good luck.

For poly carriers, I really like Comp-Tac. http://www.comp-tac.com/catalog.php?cPath=22

In leather, I like the pancake style made by many makers. I use a UBG and HBE carrier often. That's actually my mag pouch on his Nate's site. http://www.ubgholsters.com/magholders.htm Eric's site http://www.hbeleatherworks.com/ A good pic of something similar to mine. http://www.imageseek.com/hbeleather/...lt_mag/40b_003
