Review of tree stand
Hey guys - So I posted the great deal on hang on stands from Sportsmansguide.com figured I'd give a review...
My hang on stands arrived quickly from Sportsmansguide
I'm still waiting on the ladders (different source) but this platform is HUGE, its pretty stable (a slight left /right wobble) but overall outstanding. If you are looking for a hang on stand you aren't going to do better for the price, especially if you like a big stand to hunt from.
the ratchet straps appear to be very similar to what you would get from Lowes or Home depot, definitely sufficient for the task at hand, it mounted to the tree very easily and is stable. I can't wait to get up in this stand and bring home some venison. The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

Re: Review of tree stand
haha no way in hell. It doesn't compare
but my climber costs over 250.00 new and is basically the Lexus of climbing stands (Summit Viper X4?)
These are Ford Escorts... reliable, dependable, works to get you from point A - B and do everything you want... but they aren't going to be anywhere near the Lexus :PThe first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. Re: Review of tree stand
I have never felt comfortable in a strap-on style treestand. Maybe it's my height, or the smallness of the platform or seat.... I ALWAYS wear a full body harness, yet I really don't feel safe in one. (Maybe I'm just unbalanced)
A few years ago a got my hands on an Ameristep Grizzly strap-on for a special situation. Think I paid around $120 back then.
I feel perfectly comfortable and safe in this stand. It's a bugger to get up into the tree (due to the 40# weight), but I use a makeshift pulley system to do that, then leave it there all season.
I have no qualms abouts dozing in this stand.
Only downside, other than the weight, was I left it up over the winter one year, and some squirrels made a nest in the folded up seat. Cost $60 for a replacement seat at the Harrisburg show."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." Thomas Jefferson
