Re: 22-250 = Deer?
Yes.
Are ballistics good enough to make a clean kill on a human?
That is about what it takes to kill a Deer, cleanly.
As in not tracking the deer 2 miles...........

Re: 22-250 = Deer?
In PA any centerfire rifle, .20 caliber or larger is legal. I had a friend that hunted for years with a .22-250. Got his deer every year but typically placed his shots very well (head or neck only).

Obviously, make sure you don't use bullets designed for varmints... they will just explode under the hide and wound the animal. Something like the following would be good.
22-250 REM 53 GR. DPX HUNTER 3550 fps/1483 ftlbs
Kinda pricey though.

Yes, you can hunt with it. I took 4 bucks with my 22-250 over the years and a crap load of ground hogs too. I shot the deer right behind the shoulder or dead center of the chest. Not one of them went more than 50yds before it dropped. All the shots i took were less than 100yds. The blood trail isn't as heavy as shooting a deer with a 30-06 but i never lost one or had to track it very far.

Re: 22-250 = Deer?
.22-250 will drop a deer dead where it stands. I want to stress what others said, make sure you are not using varmint bullets on the deer. Even then, I would advise that you NOT hit the front shoulder, either make the head, neck shot, or just punch one in the boiler room behind the front shoulder. Hitting the front shoulder with a .22-250 will result is a great deal of meat loss, and blood shot meat. Good luck.

Re: 22-250 = Deer?
Thanks a
lot guys, This is good information, especially the advice about not using Varmint rounds.
Actually i have a brand new .308 in left hand that i have never shot yet, I wanted to get a 22-250 or 7mm-08 SAvage American classic to use for varmint and to use by my son for Deer now that he just turned 13 last week, so it will be the 22-250 or 7-08.
Thanks guys.
