Suggestions for a CCW?
I am about to get my CCL. I have been researching a lot on the internet and have been looking at various handguns at the local gunshops, but am just not sure what I would like to carry. I originally thought that I could carry my springfield XD45 (cause I am a pretty big guy), but I think it is too noticable on me. With so many options out there, I just don't know what to look for. I would like something smaller and would probably choose 9mm caliber.
I know you can, but will some people suggest some good CCW's (9mm) that I should look at. I am new to guns, so I am looking more specifically for specific models. I can look online all day, but prefer to here some personal preferences from some people out there. Thanks.

Go Glock you will not be disappointed. Springfield is a good pistol as well. Go to a good shop and fit them all. This will give you the best results and you can find the pistol that fits you best.

I like Glocks. XDs are good too. Whatever you like best. Don't cheap out on a holster, get a good one and a good belt. I carry a 19 and nobody notices, until my mother-in-law hugged me.

I carry a Dan Wesson Cbob Classic 10MM in a Crossbreed IWB holster. You can't see it, and it is very comfortable.

Re: Suggestions for a CCW?
So many choices.
But what you ultimately choose will be determined by how you will be carrying.
If you have the traditional shoulder holster with a jacket then you can carry just about anything.
If you're looking for pocket-carry pieces, there aren't that many choices.
It ultimately is a compromise between size and capability. Pocket guns are going to have smaller capacity - 7 - 10 rounds of 9 para versus 17-19. But the pocket guns will also fit in your back pocket, and can easily be deeply concealed in either short pockets or an ankle holster.
For general scaled-down concealed carry - with holsters:
Sig P239
Glock 26
Springfield XD Compact 3"
H&K P200 SK
Walther P99QA
Bersa Thunder 9 ultra compactCZ 2075 RAMI
Kel-Tec PF-9
Smaller guns:
Kel-Tec P-11
Kahr PM-9 series
Kahr MK-9 series
Rohrbaugh R9 series - probably the best of the bunchLast edited by kunsunoke; August 5th, 2009 at 08:51 AM.

I would say the Glock 26.
Another gun to look into is the Walther PPS.
And since no one said it I will:
It's not a CCL, its a LTCF. (Licence to carry Firearms)

Re: Suggestions for a CCW?
Check where he is located, he's in KY not PA. In KY I believe it is CCL.
Bam5150 - for concealability it depends on how big you are. I'm 6'3, 270 and I can hide a full size 1911 with not a lot of trouble. That said, it depends on KY law. In some states if you are carrying concealed and you print and a policeman can see it, you can get cited for not properly concealing.Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

Re: Suggestions for a CCW?
Many people carry a Glock 19 with little trouble. I have a Kel-Tec .380 which hides about as well as anything can, and after 500 rounds I've had no functioning issues.
How much do you want to spend? You could get the excellent Sig P239 http://www.sigsauer.com/Products/Sho...x?categoryid=9, or for less money, the Kel-Tec PF-9 http://www.kel-tec-cnc.com/pf9.htm
Like buying a car, you really should test drive a few at a pistol range before you take anyone's word about what's best. You may find your own opinion of what feels good and is ergonomically sound for you is different from what people will recommend. You may, for instance, decide that you're really a wheelgun man and get a compact .38 like the Ruger LCR http://www.ruger-firearms.com/Firear...tion&famlst=65
Whatever you get, let us know.
