What was the question again??????????
If they feel right then go for it. I have Pachmayr grips on my 1911 and they do feel nice. I would rather have the wood for looks. I do like the wood on my Sig elite though, it just looks right.

The only thing that matters about grips is, do they work for you? Do they give you a secure grip and can you pick up your target quickly, all that matters.

Heck yes. I like the beaded rubber grips made by Radical who used to supply Colt, and then marketed under their own name. They were available in all kinds of bright colors and when I put the blue or yellow grips on a 1911 gun it made everybody at the club gag, and I loved it. They are really good grips, but now you'll probably have to scrounge eBay to find them now.

Re: Rubber Grips on 1911 yay nay???
Depends.
On my Kimber TLE II.. the stock grops are rubber... great. Love them. Good feel, stays in my hand well under all conditions, cold, hot, sweaty, wet, etc. Love them
On me Ultra Carr II.. I had them, but felt that they snagged, or at least dragged when deep concealment was needed. I switched to Wood Grips, and it doesn't drag anymore. This is most concerning when carrying in a 5-11 shirt pocket. With the rubber...was more difficult to get the gun to slide out quickly...it doesn't drag much with the wood grips.
YMMV.
