Default Buying a shotgun near philly (where??)

    Hi,
I'm looking to buy a 20 gauge shotgun, preferably used, preferably a double barrel - I'm partial to side-by-sides. None of the gun shops in Philadelphia have much of a selection - I'm willing to take a drive to find a store with a large selection - Does anybody know anything within, say, 20 miles?

Or, barring that, do you have a shottie you're looking to part with?

    Thanks for your help.

Used quality 20g shotguns can be tough to find. You night want to just start calling around, especially for a SxS. I finally found a good used O/U (Browning 525) in 20g at Tanner's in Jamison. He usually has a lot of guns available, but I'd call before taking the drive.

    clay,

You may find one at the Valley Forge gun show next weekend in King of Prussia.

I haven't seen too many side by side 20 gauges. I have seen a lot of over and unders though and I'm planning on getting new a Mossberg Silver Reserve in 20 gauge eventually.

A really nice O/U 20ga just sold in the forums a few days ago.

If you are interested, I bought 100 shells of 20ga by mistake (and Wallmart doesnt do returns/exchanges on ammo), I'd be happy to trade for whatever if you want, or just sell it to you. I'll let them go for $18 (which is about a dollar less than what the final price was).

Im in philly quite often, I can meet you.

Try Miller's in Chichester, Delaware County. They are just off I-95. Their phone # is 610*485*1490. I got a Rem "Spartan" SxS in 20 ga from them and it is a solid shooter.

    Best regards,

I'm also in the market for a 20ga shotgun, though I'm looking probably for semiauto or O/U. After visiting my usual haunts - Ken Crane, Miller's on Chichester Ave. in Linwood, and Targetmaster - the consensus has been to try Millers in New Castle, DE:

Why a 20ga over a 12ga? Just curious because most would pick up a 12ga for most applications. Even the recoil arguement isn't a factor as it once was with low recoil ammunition and the invention of the Knoxx SpecOps stock.

Driving 20 miles isn't a very large area and I find that Philly area gun shops always charge more. Ask Diego if you don't believe me.

ETA...it's also worth noting that 12ga and 20ga ammo cost about the same...but you get more selections with the 12ga, especially if you are talking about buckshot.
