Rack my slide please...
Almost 2 weeks ago I was doing yard work and was cutting the excess line from the head of the weedwhacker, well I cut the line, AND the tendon in my left thumb! I had surgury to re-attach it his past Tuesday and now I'm in a splint (it might as well be a cast as big as it is) and I have no use of my left thumb for at least 6-8 weeks. I have all this time on my *hand* and the ammo is burning a hole in my safe. I gotta get out and shoot, this would be a good time to practice one handed but getting the slide racked and loading the mags is a real challenge! I don't even want to think about how I would clean the gun after I was done! I think I'm going to go to the range today just to smell everybody else's burnt powder
BTW FYI:
Surgical Institute of Reading has a sign on their front door that says "NO GUNS ALLOWED" I can see their point for their surgery patients because your personal belongings are handled by the nurses and every thing stays with you under your gurney while you are there. Your stuff even gets wheeled into the surgery room with you(no lockers). Additionally re-arming and carrying rigfht after anestesia is probably not a good idea. But I was turned off that I walked to the door for pretesting/register the day before and had to return to the car to disarm. I was printing pretty badly and didn't know if I would have to take my shirt off for n ECG or something.Last edited by matty70; July 26th, 2009 at 01:47 PM.

See? You should have a revolver
The ways I know to rack a slide one handed involve using the belt or the sole of your shoe. I don't know that I'd want to risk either of those with a loaded gun just for target shooting fun and games."Never give up, never surrender!" Commander Peter Quincy Taggart

Re: Rack my slide please...
Just plain stupidity... To get the right length or the line I was holding the line against the guard to use a a gauge with my left and was cutting toward myself. I thought my hand was out of the way but apparentl not. I had just sharpened that knife the day before to the point where I could shave with it! cut the tendon and a vein lots of blood-pics anyone??? LOL

I hurt my right hand years ago. I now make sure to practice with both hands. Never thought to practice one handed slide racking.
