I had a pen and paper but I didn't use it much. Everything they talk about is in the book they give you and as long as you pay attention and use common sense you will pass the final test no problem. There was NO shooting in my class.

There were quite a large number of adults and older teens 17 & 18 at the one I attended.

Are you taking the regular class or the independent study one?

I took the independent study one (you read/study online then and attend a 2-3 hour class). The place I went to provided pencils to take the test with. There wasn't any shooting. They went over the common sense stuff, including how to look stuff up in the Hunter-trapper Digest! The class was mostly 11-12 year old boys with their dads. The test was easy. I didn't miss any.

I'm taking the regular class. I looked at the independant one...even linked to the online book...but figured if i have to go in for the test anyway may as well get the complete experience. I got my Boat/Water safety cert completely online couple years ago. NJ now requires everybody to have that cert on the water and doenst accept "online" testings. My cert card doesnt say OnLine Test like the newer ones.

I figure i wont have any problems with the test because i am "smarter than a 5th grader"...
