moving to PA from TX
I may be moving to the Pittsburgh area soon and wanted to get the simplified run-down on PA's gun laws and how they compare to those in TX. I do not currently have a CCL, so I would like to know what it takes to get one in PA. Also, is open carry feasible? I understand it isn't explicitly illegal, but that law enforcement may still give you a hard time about it. Is that true? Also, I currently keep a loaded pistol concealed in the glove box of my car (which is legal in TX without any type of permit). Am I right in understanding that I will need a CCL before being allowed to do so in PA? Also, is there any type of silly magazine capacity limit in PA like there is in California? I own an AK with several 30-rounders...

You will enjoy your liberation from the TX BS you are accustomed to.
After moving back, and learning the laws here, NEVER will I set foot in TX........
And not just because my X lives there............

Check out some of the links headcase compiled for new members, especially the gun rights flier. (Posting it so headcase doesn’t have to…)
Once you are an actual resident of Pennsylvania, you will apply with the Allegheny County Sheriff. It basically involves filling out an application, paying some money, and possibly waiting up to 45 days. If your criminal history is clean, you should have no problem.
Law enforcement can give you a hard time about anything. The Municipal Police Officers’ Education & Training Commission started updating all municipal police officers in Pennsylvania this year in the 2009 Mandatory In-Service Training.
Carry in a vehicle in Pennsylvania requires a carry license from any state, regardless of whether it is a reciprocal state license or not.
No magazine restrictions at all.

Re: moving to PA from TX
I'm originally from Texas and the main differences are:
1 - don't worry about printing, OC if you want
2 - You will need a LTCF to carry in your car with very few exceptions, unlike Texas.
3 - No training or shooting requirement to get LTCF.
To answer questions, there are no mag capacity limits. The laws here are better for carry. Hunting is a completely different animal here than it is in TX, but if you want to know more about that ask, otherwise I'll assume it doesnt matter.

There is no such thing as a 30.06 sign in PA.
The off-limit to carry list is much shorter. Check here for details.

Actually, the only reason you got to quote that post in its old form is because I balked and missed the “Preview Post” button and accidentally hit “Submit Reply” instead, which is why the post got redacted and reposted in the form I wanted it in.
Your chief asshole status remains unchallenged.
