    Default EASTON, PA area Question

    I will be in the
Easton area this coming weekend (July 25th) and am looking for a place
for a friend and I to shoot pistol and rifle, and perhaps shotgun.

Anywhere within 45 miles/minutes or so of Easton or
the NJ border. Obviously NOT in NJ preferably.

I know there are some state owned shooting ranges (?) in PA, that are free
to the public, any of those would be great too.

    Thanks in advance!

Jason Shaffer is js1050 on this forum and a fellow NRA instructor who teaches courses at Easton Fish and Game Association http://www.efga.net/. The web site doesn't say anything about guest memberships, but I took the UT course from Jason 2 years ago and a Defensive Pistol course from another instructor. As I recall, we each paid $5 to use the range, but that was part of a scheduled course. Don't really mean to volunteer Jason, but as a local in Easton he might be able to chime in with some recommendations if EFGA is not an option.

Be aware that the State Game Lands ranges are free, but you're limited to 3 rounds in rifle magazines and 6 rounds in pistol mags. I'm not sure if any are convenient to Easton, but here's the link: http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/pgc/cwp/v...a=480&q=161297

Thanks,..there appears to be State Games lands #168 near Easton, but I don't see if there is a range there.

There is not a shooting range at state game land #168.

From what I can tell by the PennDOT Tourism and Transportation Maps and the list of state game land public shooting ranges (which was posted above by rmarkob), the closest ranges to you will be state game land #205 approximately 20 miles to your east in Lehigh County and state game land #141 approximately 30 miles to your northeast in Carbon County.

State game land #141 lists a 25- and a 50-yard range as designated pistol ranges, so you would be able to lawfully use six rounds in a magazine. On the other hand, state game land #205 only lists its ranges as being designated rifle ranges, so you would be legally limited to 3 rounds in a magazine even when using a pistol.

EFGA is running an IPDA match on Sunday, don't think that is an option.
