Pafoa podcast
Hopefully this will be the right place to put this.
I want to start something like a podcast based here. I have been listening to gun talk podcasts and I think that I can contribute productively. But I don't know much besides the material involved.
My idea is get out to the public all that is going on here in PA. The OC hassles, our CC problems, the (false) registry of pistols and ARs. Also the good we see every day.
I think it would be a pretty good idea, and most of these guys have a pretty solid fanbase, if not exactly large. We could also do some national news where it may touch on us here in PA.
I don't want to make it an "official" PAFOA podcast, just put together here, and with interviews of some of it's members.
For example I thought getting Rich and Melanie to talk about what they've gone through from there own point of view would be great. Without all the medias negative twist.
I would of course require permission from all parties involved. In the Dickson City case many were involved that may not want to be mentioned.
So first of all. I have the will. I have some equipment. I could do face to face or phone call conferences. But I don't know how to actually get it out on the net. I'm not iTunes savvy, and YouTube has a very short time limit. Ten minutes I believe, when many podcasts run up to an hour.
Thoughts? Suggestions?

Interesting. I have toyed with the idea, but never even put anything on paper.

First you need to decide if you want to use iTunes or another place to put your podcast. If you use iTunes, you'll also need to set up a rss feed. I'll include a link that gives you some alternates to the iTunes side. I looked into this a few months back, as I was going to start to podcast our midnight chows and post them up. I was gonna use iTunes and then decided to just use blogger.com for it. But then I decided I didn't want to waste a few hundred bucks on a nice digital recorder that I'd never use again.

I highly recommend you d/ling Audacity and Lame MP3 Encoder, two awesome programs that I use quite often. Links for it are in Headcase's posts.

Re: Pafoa podcast
Thanks headcase and chris. Lots of material there. Some of it is new and makes my head spin lol. I'm at work at the tail end of a 12 night shift. Rather rough to absorb new material at this point.
So Tuesday when I'm off I will DL audacity and Lame. I will fool with that and figure all that out then look into putting together an introductory podcast. Anyone who wants to be in that one, or another one let me know.
I'd like to figure out how well I can hook up a phone conference as well and get that all recorded.
One major concern is I have a poor voice quality IMO and this may be hard. I think this will be pretty fun. Hope to have lots of other people on it and co hosts! Hopefully learn alot, meet alot of good folks, and teach our fellow gun owners what's going on in our state.
Any ideas or thoughts feel free to leave them here or in a PM. Very open to anything you guys might have.Millions for defense, Not one cent for tribute!

Re: Pafoa podcast
All I can say is good luck getting some of the divas here to agree to do anything with it. We started a gun-talk online radio station and it was pretty dammed impossible to get anyone to want to do anything. We did have a really nice weekly update with Greg Rotz Dunno if Greg has continued the podcast or not.

This is something I've come across. It lets you have your own online talk radio show, with a way for listeners to call in.
