Sights - plain or fiber optic front?
I like my new Glock 17L, but it's a Glock, so the stock sights are awful. I'm going to get a set of the Sevigny competition sights installed, as seen here:

Would you get the serrated plain front sight, or the fiber optic front sight, and why? This gun is used for shooting targets 5 to 25 yards, outdoors only. This is not a carry gun, just to thwart the "get night sights" posts.

Re: Sights - plain or fiber optic front?
they say fiber optic is easier to pick up even in low/bright light, but I personally run a blank rear/front sight on my CZ and love it, but I'll be getting a gold bead in my front sight soon...I guess it's all in preference, really.
I don't mind the glock sights, but I can't stand 3-dot sights.Peace, Prosperity, and Liberty

Re: Sights - plain or fiber optic front?
I go with either fiber or tritium depending on the intended use of the gun. A plain front sight is great for punching white targets in my experience...but it tends to get lost against dark backgrounds whereas a fiber optic sight (or a white dot/post/gold bead etc...) stands out.

fiber optic - it draws your eye to it better than a plain site. At least it does for me.
I have the tru glo tfo's on my xd and love the lit up front site.
I also have a fiber optic on my shotgun that i use to shoot skeet.

Re: Sights - plain or fiber optic front?
For action shooting a fiber optic draws your eye and can aid in fast target acquisition. But for me, the optic can flare when trying to take careful aimed shots and blot out the sharp top edge of the blade. For a pure target pistol, I would go with plain black serrated.

FO.
I run the thinnest front sight I can (.100) for tight shots......and blow up the fiber so you can see the sight easily for close shots at speed.

Re: Sights - plain or fiber optic front?
I just had a set of Zone 3's (all grren) put on my XD. These are the brightest, yet crispest nite sights that I've ever seen!
And, they're a Pennsylvania product, too!"...a REPUBLIC, if you can keep it."

I like FO sight on bright light, but don't care too much for it on dimmed light.
I like Tritium sight for low to no light condition, but I see them no better then stock whitedot sight on blight light condition.
I never tried Truglo's TFO.. Sounds like best of both world thoAudemus jura nostra defendere

I have the Dawson FO front sight (it's the thinner one, not sure the measurement) with the Sevigny competition sights installed on the rear of my Glock 34. I really like that combination.
