Default Open Carry on the streets of Harrisburg?

First of all, great forum guys. I've spent hours reading MANY great threads and topics.

I live and work in the Harrisburg area and regurally end up "down town". I've been considering open carry in the downtown area. (Please, please, please, let's not get into another debate on the pros and cons of the issue.) I was just curious if anybody had any personal experiences with the city and open carry (opinions aside)?

    Thanks,
    Eric

Penguini, I also live in Cumberland County and work in Harrisburg. I work on Linglestown Road, not downtown. Our office used to be downtown. I have never considered it (open carry), but as others have said, the law favors you. Having said that, being legal is one thing...the inconvenience of getting stopped and questioned if someone calls it in or a cop stops you is another thing. Granted many people may not give it a second thought. I see detectives/plainclothes officers carrying in the open all the time downtown. At least I consider them to be such since they are open carrying. Who knows...maybe more people open carry than we really realize.

Is there a particular reason you are considering open carry? One obvious reason is this heat. It's hard to dress to conceal when it's 90 and humid.

That would be my suggestion. Dress so that the average person would assume you are a plainclothes cop. Not suggesting you try to impersonate, but definitely dress so you don't look suspect.

Nope. No particular reason. Maybe simply because I can.

Thanks for the responses guys. Definately wouldn't want to inpersonate a LE though. But I get the jist. I'd think that as long as you look relatively clean-cut and are dressed respectably, you'd have a better chance of not getting hassled.

Open carry in the State capitol... Well, you got a pair larger than mine... I say go for it, after all, a right not exercised is a right lost... So go load up, OC, and take that puppy for a walk!

most will assume you're a cop anyways. Whwn I open carried in Az ( I didn't have a permit for that state) most people that I would tlak to (cashiers, etc....) always asked if I was a cop.
