Default Looking for a decent Long range scope

I am looking for a decent long range Target/hunting scope. I would like something with good clarity and brightness and adjust ability without breaking my wallet. Any suggestions?

Give a price range...if you let people know what you are willing to spend...it would make things a whole lot simpler. It is very difficult to make recommendations without some concrete numbers. Some people's idea of decent is $100, while to another person that might be $500. It's all about the details.

I have a Bushnell 4-12x40mm AO scope I bought at Wallyworld for $70. It's very clear and holds a zero nicely for me. Of course I have it mounted on my .22 so it's not shaken badly by recoil.

Yea I am shooting a .30-06 so I dont know how well it will hold up to that, but it is probably better than the stock remington one I have on it now. I am looking for a decent scope for under 200 bucks hopefully I can score one for that price.

For hunting purposes you will probably be better suited with a variable scope. Most hunters are using a 3x9 scope. For under $200, I'd recommend the Mueller scopes.

Thanks for the recommendation I am currently looking at one of the 4-16x50mm scopes. I like their scopes though, they look good. Now to go read some reviews on their stuff.

I have the 2-7 power scope on my 22 mag. It has the Illuminated reticle and for the money it's a decent scope.

I was also checking out their tactical models for my Target and Varment gun I am looking at purchasing soon. I would like to get a .270 or a .308. I hear the .308 has a flat trajectory out to about 300-400 yards. Is that true? Anyways thanks for the recommendations.

For about $125, try the BSA Platinum series. I have two and they have held up pretty well. In 10 years I'll be able to say for sure that they are family heirlooms, or not.

The 270 or 308 would work for you. I personally dislike LA, so I would say get the 308. You can find ammo for both calibers in any gun shop, so the choice is yours.

I would get a Mueller over BSA anyday. I never liked BSA scopes because the clarity is horrible. I bought a used Savage that came with a BSA scope. I sold the scope to buy something better.

If you ever plan on hunting in low light or hunt predators at night...I say look into the illuminated models from Mueller. I really like my scope on my 22 mag.
