Allegheny County homosexual special rights Ordinance 4201-08
My family and I have made the decision to not shop in Allegheny County any longer. I will send copies of my receipts to the Allegheny County POLS with the reason I shopped elseware. We live on the county line and will now go east into Greensburg etc.
[Pittsburgh, July 1, 2009] – Tonight during debate on the homosexual special rights Ordinance 4201-08, Councilman Chuck McCullough offered an amendment to put the ordinance before the people in the form of a referendum. Diane Gramley, president of the statewide group the American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA) and who was in attendance tonight, noted that it became quite evident that the Democratic members of Council and the homosexual activists in attendance did not want the people to be given an opportunity to vote on a referendum.
“Various Council Members remarked that the people had voted them in to make tough decisions and this issue is not something Allegheny County residents understand. How many residents, beyond the homosexual activists pushing this ordinance, even knew about the existence of Ordinance 4201-08 let alone that it was going to be voted on tonight? It’s not that the people don’t understand the issue, it’s that those pushing this ordinance know the people understand it full well and would vote it down if given the opportunity,” remarked Gramley.
...[T]he supporting Council Members that chose to ignore the facts... the way such ordinances have played out in other areas. This included the man who thinks he is a woman demanding to use the women’s fitting room in a Philadelphia Kmart and the Cradle of Liberty Scout Council being evicted from the headquarters they built and have maintained since 1929... Only Bob Macey (Mckeesport - District 9) backed away from [a decision not to support the bill] and voted in favor of the homosexual special rights ordinance. This even after admitting the vast majority of phone calls into his office were opposed to the ordinance...
“Allegheny County residents will wake up Thursday morning and realize that by a vote of 8 – 6 the County Council has placed businesses in the county in a situation where they must hire homosexuals, bisexuals and men who think they are women, county pools must allow men in the women’s locker and shower facilities, public restrooms must be open to anyone and religious schools must hire those whose lifestyle choices go against their moral teachings. Allegheny County will wake up to a world their County Council has chosen for them simply because the majority of their Council Members don’t believe they are intelligent enough to understand the issue. I believe the Council may be in for a surprise,” concluded Gramley. ##

Re: Allegheny County homosexual special rights Ordinance 4201-08
Before I get called a homophobe or biggot let me state my personal beliefs:
Homosexuals are people who are born with the same basic rights as I was and all of you were. If they want to get "married" take a vow to only smoke one pole or munch the same carpet forever, so be it. They are not hurting anyone. I also believe the churches should/could not be forced to recognize nor perform the ceremony. Let them go to the Justice of the Peace like a lot of other Americans do every day.

This is wrong on so many levels. Who does the County Council think they are to tell businesses they must hire gays? In Pa an employer can hire/fire who ever the hell they want for any reason they want. Must allow men in the women's locker room are you kidding me? If a dude thinks he is a chick, he doesn't need to be in the locker room, he needs help. Don't even get me started on the state getting involved with the religeous schools.
Allegheny County will wake up to a world their County Council has chosen for them simply because the majority of their Council Members don’t believe they are intelligent enough to understand the issue. I believe the Council may be in for a surprise,” concluded Gramley.
They [county council] don't think they are intelligent enough to make the decision but they do it anyway? This is FUBAR. Now that the decision is made, won't it be harder to reverse?
The bottom line: Just because someone is gay doesn't mean they get "Special treatment" they should get the same as everyone else.
Warning: Sometimes I over estimate the value of my 2 cents. When you are called a racist, it just means you won an argument with an Obama supporter.

Without seeing the text of the legislation I cannot comment.
If it indeed mandates the hiring of people from specific classes then it directly contradicts Federal non-discriminatory hiring practices and is invalid."If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom ... go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels nor arms. May your chains set lightly upon you and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." Samuel Adams

Wow. If they want to enforce the law with regard to discrimination then fine. I have no issue with that. I have no problems with people's sexual preferences. Just leave me alone about my own.
Personally I have to draw the line on this letting men into the women's locker rooms and bathrooms thing. I mean, what about the pedophile who decides he's going to pretend to be one of these guys who "thinks he's a woman" just so he can go in and check out little girls in the ladies' room? Someone is going to pay dearly for that decision.... If they're going to force someone's hand at that then they should tell businesses to add a "unisex" area (not that I necessarily agree with them telling businesses they have to do any of this).

Re: Allegheny County homosexual special rights Ordinance 4201-08
I would LOVE to see ANYONE propose an ordinance , rule , policy , or bill granting special privledges and exceptions for white people ! NOT because Im racist . But in order to highlight the stupidity of all this nonsense . Switch ( black , gay , brown , whatever ) with " white " and there are sure to be howls of indignant outrage . Which only serves to highlight their idiocy

Re: Allegheny County homosexual special rights Ordinance 4201-08
OP should give a source.
This source says the ordinance is about not discriminating against gays for housing and jobs:
http://2politicaljunkies.blogspot.co...imination.html
which does not sound like "you MUST hire gays." or special rights.

Re: Allegheny County homosexual special rights Ordinance 4201-08
I'll admit that I only skimmed the text, but I didn't see anything in here
that would support this statement.
