Thinking about buying another handgun, Opinions?
I had my LTCF for a year and just purchased a .45 springfield XD acp and been shooting for the past 2 week since I bought it. For the 2 weeks I've had the gun, its been strapped to my hip and goes almost everywhere with me. Since it holds 13 bullets, I've been noticing a lot more that its kinda heavy. So, I just know the basics of guns and don't know much about different brands and what not, So I'm asking on what type of gun should I purchase to more a less go target shooting and carry sometimes. I love my .45 but I want something I think a little lighter and not such a kick at the range. Feel free to tell me any of your ideas, they will help out for sure. To start, I maybe been thinking a .40 H&K, but I really don't know if that would be the BEST for what I'm looking for, So I ask you guys.
Thank you"I Don't Miss"

What kind of belt do you use? If your belt sucks, pretty much any gun is going to be noticeably heavy. Get yourself a good gun belt if you don’t have one and see if it makes a difference for you.

+1 on the belt. Yo also need a quality holster to go with that belt and gun.

1 3/4 or 2" double thickness belt is probably your best bet. That's what I'm going with anyway...
I OC my XD45 with 13 + 1 every day, on a cheap walmart belt. I don't notice it too much at all, other than the holes stretching pretty badly, but I'm a stout guy, and I'm sure body frame has a lot to do with it.Last edited by FormerUser123; July 6th, 2009 at 09:17 PM.

RyanXD.... congrats on your first gun.
I say that because, well, because guns are like Lays Potato Chips. YOU CAN'T HAVE JUST ONE!
I know, I know... you can only carry one at a time, well... ok, two,... I mean 3, but still....

I’m unsure of what kind of selection Wal-Mart has as I haven’t recently looked, but try to find a belt that is like the ones dedicated to the function of firearms carry. The following would be examples of the types you are looking for (I probably left a few popular ones out):
Dedicated gun belts are much stiffer than regular leather belts, and hold the weight of a firearm much better. If Wal-Mart only carries regular leather belts, getting a dedicated gun belt from another source might be a better bet.

I purchased a Fox Creek Leather belt on the recommendation of a member here, and it is a very nice belt. Really thick and stiff and works well with my heavy Beretta 92. Spend a little extra money now and get a good belt that works and will last.
