Best carry sight for a 1911 and a smith to install them
So I am looking to upgrade the sights on my 1911 to something better for carry, learning heavily towards night sights. I currently have the stock Springfield 1911 Mil Spec sights on them, which are not bad.
So can anybody give me some recommendations on what sights they like and a good gunsmith in the SE PA or Cumberland County area to install them?Repeal the 17th Amendment

Heinie Straight Eights. They're a night sight that lends itself very well to sight-cocking.

If you don't want to do slide cuts then you should check these out:

If you are open to spending the money for milling the slide then you should look at these:

The .140 notch with the u shape directs your eye right to the front sight. I use all black rears with a tritium front. Much faster than lining up dots during the day. At night, I'm just shooting at the front tritium anyway.
10-8 sights rock.
There is a good pistolsmith at Classic pistol in Southampton PA who can put in the first sight.
Jerry Beard in Pottstown has a mill for cutting dovetails.Last edited by Wilson Guy; August 3rd, 2012 at 06:42 AM.

I just had the Mother Ship replace the sights on my TRP. At seven years old, they were getting weak. I had them install a gold bead front sight, plus some other work. It only took 10 days door to door.
Springfield Custom Shop does great work and you can trust them to know the pistol. Give them a call (or email) and get a quote. I can't say enough good things about them.George,
So many guns, so little money.
