Default Need info on a Nambu price

Friday night I saw a nice Type 14 (1925) with the large trigger guard, made in 1939. It had most of it's bluing, say 95%+, and was all matching, including the mag. It didn't have a holster, but I was really thinking of buying it, but the price just seemed too high to me. I won't quote the price, yet, in order to keep the bias out of the responses, but I'd like to know what a good offer would be.

I really like the dealer, and can make an offer but I don't know what the market is like on these pieces, anymore. If Nambu's are in big demand, then what's marked may not be too bad. It would be a great addition to the collection.

    Thanks Bill.

The one I saw was more expensive. Would you consider $650 a good price?

I bought one last year that was in excellent condition for $500 at the York Gun show. I think that anything over the $650 mark is way overpriced in todays market. If the economy picks up and as soon as the new HBO miniseries about the WWII Pacific theater comes out next year the price of WWII Japanese collectables might just go up higher just like the Band of brothers/ Saving Private Ryan drove up the price of other WWII items. Only time will tell.

Thanks for the replies. The one I saw was $750, which I thought was way too high. Of course I believe the price would be a factor of what the dealer bought it for, and maybe, with all matching numbers, there's a premeium, but the latest blue book put 100% mint versions at $700. Given that the books are about a year or so behind, I thought it could, possibly, be an OK price if the trends are moving up.

Still, I may call and make an offer. I really like the dealer and we have a good relationship. I know he wouldn't try to rip me off, but there's the chance that he can't come down much. I would buy it for $500, maybe even as much as $600, but $750 is too much.
