Im betting on stupidity...maybe they wont even notice.

Aside from the current Obama bump, I would not say firearms are a growth industry.

Prior to this craziness I heard the guys at Firing Line joke about how little money there was in the business. Granted, that is one particular store that could be run a hell of a lot better, but there is probably something to what they said.

Your store would have to be better than SPAG from day one to get any traction at all.

Others have pointed out some of the costs, another thing would be to line up distributors. A dirty secret in niche retail is that distributors often won't give you the time of day because their current, high volume clients will threaten to cut business if the distributor deals with the new guy in the area. e.g. If you can't promise to buy 20 Glocks a month, Glock (or their middleman?) might not want to risk pissing off their long running, reliable partners.

If you were going to open a store, I'd recommend doing so in Delco, where you could be nearly the only game in town, now that a lot of older stores have closed.

either that or find a building that is grandfathered in. god i love that stipulation in Philly. when i lived there a friend of mine was trying to open a tattoo shop. he found a building that used to be a tattoo shop like ,idk, 50 years ago, so they had to let him because of the grandfather clause. i dont know if it will work for a gunshop, but might not hurt to try...

Hmmm....i would have thought that once that building became "something else" it would have lost the grandfather effect....???
