    Default Marine Corps M14/mini

I call this rifle my Marine Corps Mini. I started out with a new Ruger M14 GBCB mini 14 . I glass bedded the stock .I then painted the stock and handguard with official U.S.Marine Corps Green paint (yes you can order it online) followed by a matte sealer coat I then milled a m1 Carbine WW2 rear sight that is adjustable for windage and elevation. I added an accu-strut not so much for accuracy but for rapid fire heat dissapation. The rifle shot almost all ammo into 2" before bedding. After bedding and accustrut consistent 1" moa groups with BALL ammo .The Winchester 55 gr white box is the best. I have 2 other friends who have this same model mini and that is the norm for accuracy! These rifles are not light with the new barrel .Mine as is weighs in at 8-3/4 pounds with out scope.I have a Kollmorgen WW2 U.S.M.C.sniper scope that I will install next. This is one Former Marine who would carry this rifle in combat anytime!Oh yeah, I just couldn,t refrain from stamping U.S.M.C. on the receiver!

Dig it. I love Mini 14's! I own two. A ranch model that was my dads and one of the new Mini 14 Tacticals. Both always go boom, and both are dead on balls accurate.

I dig what you've done to yours.

Very nice! Good to hear the new ones are that accurate, too. I've got a '99 that only does about 3-4" groups at 100 yrds. Also, did you ever shoot it with just the accustrut and no other modifications? I only ask because I considered buying one, and was wondering how much a difference the strut made by itself.

These new rifles have a much stiffer barrel than the old ones .My rifle shot the first 5 rounds into about 2" with about any ammo I tried after glass bedding (with Winchester white box 5.56 about 1-1/2"). The accustrut made it somewhat more accurate ( 1"" with the Winchester ) for 5 shots but my 20 shot rapid fire group opened up very little (2") with the accu-strut and did not wander. This weapon reminds me so much of my M14 and M1a( I have an original Winchester M14 and a SOCOM M1a) in that they never jam or fail. The most important thing about a mini ,or M14 for that matter is to bed the action correctly.Their are other things that you can do such as adjusting the gas system ect.but I believe bedding is most important. If you bed your Mini you should cut your groups in 1/2 to 1/3 of what you have now
