Leather guys, what retention holster do you OC with?
I'm upgrading to a new carry gun next week and I want to try something else this time around. I've been OC'ing with my serpa but I want to go the leather route this time. I think leather gives a little more class and aesthetic appeal to your carry set up. The polymer pistol/serpa combo looks kind of tacky, and I'm tired of it. Thats my reason for switching over.
So what leather holsters would you folks recommend for OC?
ETA: I did use the search function, but everything that came up was specific to certain gun models, and the first 3 pages were all taurus. This was not helpfullLast edited by jcabin; June 25th, 2009 at 01:07 AM.

I use a Galco fletch, and a Galco IWB (basic leather IWB clip on holster, I forget the model name). One caution with leather is be real careful if you don't want it scuffed. Everything from non cloth chair arms to seat belts scuffs them.
If you don't know who your state legislators are go here:

put your zip plus 4 in the box in the upper right hand corner.

Leather guys? Retention?
That's about as bad as "latex bondage."

Anyway ...
Leather usually entails a thumbsnap, but not much else. The best options for retention tend to be designed with uniformed officers in mind.
This is one of the better OWB (did you specify?) options, although not in leather: http://www.safariland.com/DutyGear/p....aspx?pid=6378
Consider this one, too: http://www.holsters.com/concealment/.../model6287.aspLast edited by King 5.45; June 25th, 2009 at 02:42 AM.

I have a liking for the Galco Fletch's for your typical carry guns. Well stitched, thumbbreak, comfortable. Slightly pricey though, but they should last a few years.
For my cowboy OC gear: Van Horn, Ross, and Triple K. ...all of which I add a hammer loop for retention.

Galco, DeSantis, Don Hume are my three favorites.
For OWB holsters, I like my DeSantis Speed Scabbard slightly (very slightly) better than a Galco Fletch. Both are outstanding. I've been having wet dreams about getting my hands on a Galco Avenger. I've always liked the Askins Avenger style holsters, and haven't had one for a long time.
IWB, the Don Hume 715 is a deal that is hard to beat. I've also used and liked the DeSantis Cozy Partner."Never give up, never surrender!" Commander Peter Quincy Taggart

First....stay away from the paddle holsters. I forget where the video is, but it's not a good holster for OC.
Desantis makes a nice leather holster molded to the model of the gun. They have a multitude of simple retention up to every bell buzzer and whistle holsters.

I have a couple of DeSantis thumb break scabbards. The holsters look good, work well, and DeSantis has excellent customer service.
It is true that the can get scuffed up easily. My oldest DeSantis looks awful, but it has that worn in feel of old slippers.

I have a Galco Fletch. It's a bit pricey, but solid, it huge the body, holds the gun nicely, and I don't mind scratching or letting it take the abuse to protect the gun.
I'd buy it again.

DeSantis thumb break scabbards for my S&W 659 and S&W 4506 in black and tan, unlined.
I have retention training and have found out this holster gives you that valuable time to stop a gun grab
It is very difficult to come up from behind and unsnap the strap and if you have a good leather belt they can not remove the holster short of cutting your belt off you. I have also found the holster to be comfortable and the break in time short.
A word of caution, Adjust the tension screw as per DeSantis’s instructions to allow for a smooth draw.
