Default Hidden images in DVR show playback?

I don't know where this best fits, but I have a DVR and watch most shows played back. Regardless, I am seeing occasionaly very brief images displayed during commercial breaks. They are often brief half second images with a blurp of sound. If I am watching live I often rewind an freeze that fame. The image is usually something weird. One time it was a close up of a Bee's face.

I think this is probably something do do with advertisers trying to get the attendtion of DVR people, but I wanted to know if anyone else who uses a DVR ever saw these weird images?

Either there's a glitch in your DVR, or the original broadcast contained some type of subliminal messaging. See here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subliminal_message

Certain types of short, out-of-context messages are allowed to be transmitted, but anything which can't be consciously detected is not supposed to be broadcast.

I doubt very highly it's subliminal messaging, but I figured I'd throw it out there for the resident conspiracy theorists on the site

I design communication systems, including cable tv. I designed and managed (2) companies of 15 systems in mid PA upto last year.

They are Commercial Insertion Que's. Various broadcasters use anything from solid black to a picture of some sort plus a short tone for local broadcasters, cable tv or dish companies to insert a paid advertisement. Nothing meant to be subliminal messages, FCC and FTC ruled those are a "no no".

So what do they do exactly? They're too short to be ads...are they unfilled commercials?

Sounds to me like subliminal messages planted by the National Honey Association. It's all George Bush's fault. He's in bed with big honey.

Seriously, I have no idea. I'm a caveman and don't own a DVR.
