Bike chain that keeps popping
My son is having this issue with his bike. My husband "adjusted" something on it for him but it's still happening. It's happening so much he doesn't even want to ride it anymore. He says he just needs a new bike but I'm sure there must be some other resolution? Anyone? TIA.

Popping as in busting link pins, or popping as in keeps coming off the sproket? Single or multi geared?
I have a great writeup on how to adjust the latter, the former is just pulling the back wheel straight with about 1/2 of wobble up and down.

check to see if front and rear sprockets a aligned correctly. maybe rear wheel is out of wack. how old is the chain and sprockets? could a sprocket be bent?

Agreed, sounds like a misalignment issue, or too loose.
You didn't mention what type of bike this pertains to, but of it's a ten speed or has a Dérailleur gear mechanism*, it might be both tension & alignment.

Re: Bike chain that keeps popping
If it's a mountain bike, it could be a number of things. The chain is too long, and the derailleur does not provide enough tension to keep it from skipping teeth. The sprockets could be out of allignment. The derailleur may be between gears, and it constantly trying to shift gears.
If it's a BMX bike, the chain is probably too loose.

Re: Bike chain that keeps popping
Is the chain jumping off the front sprocket (the chainring) or the rear sprocket (I think that BMXers call it the drive ring)?
