Tom Tom or Garmin?
Wallyworld got a good deal going on GPS units for Father's , Garmin for $109 and Tom Tom for $149, I have no experience with these Portables, but i do use the one in my Wif'es Truck which i believe is made by JBL
Now which is a better unit Tom Tom or Garmin? The Garmin is a model Nuvi 205 , the Tom Tom i dont know the Garmin somes with what looks like a 2.5 inch screen , the Tom Tom lokks like a 3to 3.5 in widescreen which would be better for my eyes.
Anybody could shed some light on these things?
Thanks, Nyman

Re: Tom Tom or Garmin?
I would recommend the Garmin... only fault with it is that it does NOT speak the street names, simply says TURN LEFT IN 300 FEET.. etc...
Check out this site and it will give you more information...
GOOD LUCK

I have a Garmin and love it. My buddy has a TomTom and loves it. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. See what features they both offer and go from there.

No experience with TomTom, but Garmin works pretty good. ...except in San Antonio, TX - it'll try to take you to a small base northeast of downtown instead of Lackland AFB if you use one of the popular destination thingamabob's.

Re: Tom Tom or Garmin?
Garmin has slightly better base tech and better maps and POI database for North America.
TomTom has more wizbang features (so of which don't work, cost extra, or break a lot) and better maps/POI for the "rest of th world" (if that's important to you).

Re: Tom Tom or Garmin?
I use a Garmin and love it. I bought it from Circuit City online after a particularly long night of driving lost In Center County. It was worth every penny. Oh yeah, and it's pink.
My dad liked it so much my mom and me got one for him for Xmas. He named his voice "Wendy"."Pride and dignity are good, but only in moderation." P-11 Shooter

Re: Tom Tom or Garmin?
Here's the long and the short of it.
Tom-Tom is a European company which has more detail for maps in Europe.
Garmin was initially started by the US government (from what I heard) so Garmin has more detailed maps for the US.
Tom-Tom = within 6 meters
Garmin = within 6 feet
