Default Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area

Where would a place like this fall under the law as far as the state parks vs state forests laws. It's owned by the PGC, but I don't know if it's a forest or a park...

The Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area is neither a state park nor a state forest. As you noted, Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area is owned and regulated by the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC). State parks and state forests are owned and regulated by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).

The main regulations for Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area can be found in 58 Pa. Code § 135.107 (which references § 135.2 and § 135.41) and effectively only prohibits the general discharge of firearms. There is also a preempting state statute existing at 34 Pa.C.S. § 2525 which allows any person with a license to carry a firearm (LTCF) to possess a firearm regardless of other Game Commission restrictions.

As far as I can tell, the general carry of firearms is fine in Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area.

    Awesome. Thanks a lot!

Now, who is up for a hike? I've been hiking there for years, but have been slacking lately, the trails are a lot of fun though.

I've always fished there but never hiked. Can you get maps of the trails?

They have maps at the vistor center. I'll have to see if I can dig one up when I get home tonight. If I find one, I'll scan it and post it up.

Sounds like fun, I'll have to give it a try. I'm big into hunting and fishing so I'm sure I would enjoy the hiking.
