where in va are you going to? the way I go when I drive to and from va from pittsburgh has me in MD for all of 5 minutes. you'll be in pa, md (5 mins one two lane bridge) and right into wv then into va. 4 states 3 of which you can carry in. you can carry in all 4 if you want to roll the dice, NOT that I'd recomend that.

Re: Driving to Virginia from PA
As others said you'd be driving through enemy territory (md) so it's not legal to have it loaded and on you.
I make the drive about 2x a month because of work. Some of my coworkers have been known to forget to unload and just roll through.

Without a really long detour, you are stuck with MD. If you have a permit good in Delaware, unload and case it in the trunk before leaving Newark, DL and load it back up after entering VA (presumably on the Washington Beltway).

Re: Driving to Virginia from PA
Obviously, stop before entering MD (from PA), unload and separate the gun and ammo. If you have a trunk, that works for either the gun or the ammo.
Easiest route is 95 South to Baltimore Beltway to 301 south then the VA border. Keep on 301 to Port Royal, then turn left on Rt 17 (I think that's the VA route number).
You'll be driving through MD for 90-120 minutes, depending on traffic. Once a few miles south of the Baltimore Beltway, 301 becomes pretty rural. Just drive at a reasonable speed and you'll have no troubles.
Rt 17 (in VA) is a nice drive...quite rural. Watch the cops though. Certain areas are cop havens.
You'll have to look for more specific directions after that, so plan your route.
Personally, I wouldn't follow 95 over the the DC Beltway. That road sucks.
Once you get across the Potomac River Bridge, you can pull off and reload, BTW.Last edited by RoyJackson; June 18th, 2009 at 06:44 PM.
Well, pushed 60 too hard so now I am the big SIX-OH. Now I can be a real pain in the ass! And, who says growin' old isn't fun!!
