Questions on protection for Airsoft, FoF training.
How thick should my neck protection be for Airsoft?
I am attending a training in a couple weeks and it's all airsoft, FoF stuff. The paper says to wear eye, ear, neck and groin protection. I figure shooting glasses and a cup, but I'm not sure about ears or neck. They said a heavy towel around the neck will work. I was thinking that one of those spec-ops wraps worn like a neck gator would work, but its kind of thin.
Does anyone have experience with airsoft FoF training? What protection have you worn?Adams County Sport Handgunners Association - President

The FoF training I've participated in uses a regular medical neck brace, safety goggles, AND a clear face shield over that. Groin, hand and body protection are at the discretion of the participant. IMO, a pair of mechanics gloves and reduce the sting a little, but won't provide full protection for your hands.

Get a cheap paintball mask at Wal-mart, Dicks, Dunham's etc... Depending on bb weight and speed its possible to break teeth with airsoft guns. Probably not the pistols you will be using though.
I know the idea is that the pain isn't fun so you'll learn to not do stuff, but seriously save your face and eyes. A paintball mask should be rated to ANSI Z87.1-2003 here's what that means http://www.airsoftwiki.org/index.php?title=Z87.1 The PB mask is the most and best protection.
Its kind of a standard rule in airsoft that you have eye protection of that rating otherwise they can break. I used to wear ESS goggles I still have them if you don't want to wear a paintball mask. Some guys who didn't wear paintball masks wore these http://www.shop.com/+-a-shemagh-p223...1-k24-st.shtml and goggles.
It should work, the guns you're using shouldn't be too high powered, plus if you wrap it right everyone will think you're a cool operator dude.

I was thinking a spec ops recon wrap and safety glasses. The wrap might be too thin though.Adams County Sport Handgunners Association - President
