Forks of the Delaware Historical Arms Society Gun Show
I hope to see some of you at the show. My son always comes up from VA for the quarterly shows and we make it a bonding experience. We'll be there birght and early on Saturday morning.

Re: Forks of the Delaware Historical Arms Society Gun Show
The last time I was at this show (granted, it was over a year ago) it was mostly antique stuff, with a few ammo dealers. Is this still the case?

Re: Forks of the Delaware Historical Arms Society Gun Show
Any chance of picking up a nice M1 Garand for a reasonable price at this show?

Re: Forks of the Delaware Historical Arms Society Gun Show
The majority of the weapons are historical, but there's a good amount of recent stuff as well. There are normally quite a few Garands there for sale - prices vary but you can still find good deals. My son always seems to find a diamond in the rough at a good price - he does better than I do!

Re: Forks of the Delaware Historical Arms Society Gun Show
Maybe I should commission your son to scout one out for my collection.
I am going to try to make this show if the boss (wife) lets me get away for the weekend. Then we could visit our daughter in DE. It is a plan that could work.

We'd be glad to help out - you'll find that majority of the Garands in the large room but there are usually a few in the smaller room as well. Shop around, though. Some of the sellers ask top prices.
If you don't make it down, you might consider buying through the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). If you haven't heard anything about them before, drop me an email and I'll give you the link and info.

Iwill go to this. And see if i can find what i need
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms ... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. ... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." Re: Forks of the Delaware Historical Arms Society Gun Show
Maybe ... just MAYBE I would think about going to this show again if the BIG room was filled with dealers that had guns and ammo that weren't rusted historical relics .... enough of the 'yeah ok, old gun' and MORE of the 'yeah I'd buy that'
Sorry but this show has become as musty and old as my great great grandfather's boxers ... get MORE real dealers and less museum curators and then it MIGHT be worth the cost of admission ..... until then it is one GIANT snooze fest!

Re: Forks of the Delaware Historical Arms Society Gun Show
I may still make it to the PA show but the CMP may be a good alternative. It is about a 5 hr. trip according to yahoo maps.
If I make it to Harrisburg on the 11th, I will be looking for an original 16" WWI bayonet. Wish me luck.
