    Default Accelerator rounds

I'm looking for some info about these rounds. What cal do they come in, what are their stats (fps). How much do they run? Are they more accurate or less, etc.

I have found accuracy to be minute of barn door with the calibers I reloaded. Heard that the Rem. rounds are not any better.

    Most are 30cal sabots with a 22cal bullets. 30-30, 308, 30-06 - I think they may have dropped the 308 Accelerator though.

Accuracy pretty much sucks @$$. If you're looking for a varmint round, handloading varmint style 30cal bullets offer a greater potential for accuracy and the for the much desired red mist effect.

From what I've heard and read, accelerators can run over 4000fps. They usually use a 22 caliber bullet within a plastic sabot, which is then loaded into a 30 caliber shell. I often wondered what kind of penetration could be achieved by "accelerating" an SS109 bullet (steel penetrator tip) from a military M855 223 round.

My experience as well. I shot Remington .30-06 factory loaded accelerators. High velocity certainly was there, but not much else. It was a gimmick product.

Poor accuracy & wouldn't cycle an M1 rifle, either.

It's a cool idea, though. Could get accelerator ammo for Handgun calibers?

There are a couple gimmick rounds out there for handguns.

You can buy sabots for most calibers and use small bullets. However accuracy is poor because of the inherent nature of sabots and the things they do deteriorate and do not do to enhance accuracy.
