    Default Thoughts on M2

what are your thoughts on M2 Carbines? I really like the M1 carbines, and that in a fully automatic format sounds awesome. But what are your thoughts ideas and concerns? they seem to run around 4 grand and that doesnt seem bad for a FA carbine/rifle.

I'm not sure of reliability, but you seem a little low on your perception of their value.
The cheapest I've seen lately was a "trigger Pak" to convert an M1 Carbine, for $5,000.00, WITHOUT a host.(and it sold pretty quick)
    Common pricing runs $6000.00-$6800.00, currently.

    Here's a link to an M1/M2 board(forum);
    http://www.machinegunboards.com/foru...p?showforum=17

If you know of one for $4,000.00 buy it, if you don't like it you can make some money.

I keep a pretty good eye on Subguns.com, and Sturm, a friend has been looking for a couple of years(not too seriously)for one @ $5,000.00, and I haven't seen one under $5500.00.

If you are looking for something in the $4000.00 range I would suggest a Reising, Mine is fairly reliable, but mags are a little salty.
(Don't believe all the "horror stories")

    YMMV

It's gonna be expensive to shoot. I realize that when one is into FA you typically don't have such concerns, but just sayin'.

I'm "into FA", and I still have concerns as to ammo costs, you just shoot a little less.

I agree, .30 Carbine ammo is a bit pricey.

I bought a M2 carbine for my first MG and I love it! It's a registered trigger pack and I put it in one of my Plainfields.

Yeah carbine ammo can be expensive nowadays, but I reload for mine and it's reasonable to shoot. 30 round mag dumps are great!

Lately they have been in the $5000-6000 range, C&R twice that price.

these are the ones that i found. which is why i came up with that price of 4.5k~5k ish range. what should i be looking for in them, i hear that there are two ways that the carbine could have been registered one was the trigger pack and another was the receiver itself. does anyone know any places where i could look for a registered trigger pack?

I stand corrected, thanks, I guess prices are dropping on shooters.

Go over to machinegunboards.com, and ask in the M1/M2 forum. Those are the guys who own them, they will probably be happy to tell you what to look for.

Thank you all for your input. I think when I get a FA firearm this is the answer for me.
