    Default PAFOA email

I searched back through a number of pages in here and couldn't find any mention of it so I figured I'd ask.

Has anyone thought about coming up with an email system through this site? Email address would be your screen name @pafoa.org.

Just thought it would be a way of spreading the word.

I use Google hosted Gmail to provide domain based email for both of my other forums and our company email. Something like this would be pretty cool, but entirely up to DanP, and I know he is super busy right now with other projects!

I also think it's a neat idea, although I already have plenty of addresses!

Not to pee in the soup, but the huge downside would be that any e-mail, like it or not, would carry the "weight" of PAFOA. Any e-mail one sends to another carries that authority, and the sender appears as one who speaks in an official capacity of the organization. Basically, with each e-mail sent, that person is acting as an ambassador of PAFOA.

    That's a heck of a risk.

Quoted for the truth and I'm sure this will be a factor in Dan's decision.

I would suggest that pafoa.org email addresses only be available to paid subscriber members. This would possibly drive more paid memberships, as well as only give pafoa.org email address to those who are committed to the site.

    Just a thought.

A thought... instead of "username@pafoa.org", which might look like the person is directly affiliated with the site, how about adding another word in there to make it clear that the person is a member of the site and not an owner/administrator:

    HiredGoon.member@pafoa.org

And only Dan and Doug would use "username@pafoa.org".

I'm not sure it would be possible, but maybe a signature block could be added to every E-mail.

"The views expressed in this E-mail reflect only the opinions of the sender (PAFOA Member) and not that of PAFOA.org or it's owners and staff. PAFOA.org claims no responsibility for the contents of this message."

Or some such that gets tacked on AFTER the user hits send and it route through the server.

This will not ever happen for a multitude of reasons, the main one being I do not want there to ever be any confusion about whether someone with a pafoa email represents the organization or not. It would also be yet more technical management overhead for no real benefit except novelty. There's a million places to get free, reliable email addresses these days.
