    I think the short answer is "No."
    However, I think since there are age restrictions on the possession of certain firearms, adult supervision is more than just prudent, i.e., the PGC will have issues with a 12 year old kid shooting a pistol without a responsible adult present.

    That is what I thought. My daughter is 13 and is interesting in learning to shoot. I will probably get a 22 for her. She is very responsible. I want my three kids to be familiar with guns and be able to enjoy their 2 amendment rights when they are older.

    From the PA Hunting & Trapping Digest;

    Shooting ranges;

    6) Individuals under the age of 16 may not use a range unless accompanied
    by a person 18 years of age or older.

    Federal law prohibits anyone under 21 YOA from buying pistol ammo....many ranges don't want you bringing your own in, either.

    actually, i rarely run into ranges that require you to buy their ammo........... in all honesty, i never have - i've only heard that it happens on rare occasions.......... and if i'm not mistaken, that law only applies to someone with an ffl - a private sale or sale from a company without an ffl is perfectly legal.........

    You could be very right about that. What I was trying to say, in not so many words, was even if you were under 21 and brought your own ammo...said range still might not want you to shoot there w/ someone over 21 present.

    When I was 12--some decades ago now--there was an NRA-sponsored and supervised riflery program I attended Saturday mornings. Learned of it in school. Don't know if this kind of program still exists.

    My non-gun owning parents allowed this mainly, because it was the Vietnam War era, there was a draft still, and it seemed like military service would be mandatory at some point. The draft ended, the army didn't get me, but I got the bug.

    Incidentally, I recall shooting rifles and shotguns with friends before we were 18, legally at the time, as far as I know. We knew about gun safety and didn't do stupid stuff.
