Star Model BM
I recently came into possession of a Star Model BM. Through the Internet I have discovered a lot of information about the piece and was able to identify every stamp and proof.
The one thing I am puzzled about is why the slide is dark green, olive drab.
The frame, slide and barrel are all stamped with the same s/n. and the quality and coverage of the paint seems to rule out aftermarket work
With all the information I have on every scratch on the gun it strange not to find anything about a green slide.
Any thoughts, guesses or opinions? If you are gong through Hell, keep going.--Winston Churchill

Re: Star Model BM
PAINT ? Oh, the sacrilege.
I bought a Star Model BM a couple of years ago, and it was blued. Nice, shiny, rich deep blue-black. Good quality Spanish bluing.
If yours is (Heaven forefend !) "painted", it must some hokey doing of some sort. Maybe someone stripped it and then couldn't do a good blueing, so painted it. Or somebody decided to "customize" it in that fashion. (I visualize : Mall Ninja", but in camo).
Star hasn't made them for a few years, and those imported into this country were (generally) police trade-ins. Some may have been military, but the dealer I got mine from said that his were police only trade ins, and hadn't seen much shooting. I got a "select" for (ISTR) $220 with original box and manual, & extra mag for $8.00 more. Mine was tight and accurate, fit and function good and all matching. Nice gun.
Gave it to my son a while back.

Re: Star Model BM
mine is blue and guardia civil. i think the BM's are mostly police guns and the B's are military.
the paint could have been spanish police job or a good ole US bubba job, i'd bet on the bubba myself. you could always have it stripped and re blued.MORDENTE MEUM

Re: Star Model BM
It does shoot very well! I would carry it in a pinch.
The spanish box is also interesting.
The previous owner bought it from a pawn shop in Georgia which may explain a lot but the paint job is VERY good. It is worn where it should be and no chipping anywhere. If you are gong through Hell, keep going.--Winston Churchill
