I finally got an M1
I finally bought an M1 Garand. It's an import but its mine. I test fired it yesterday and it worked great. I can't wait to zero it and shoot it at longer ranges. Sorry about the picture quality, I had to take it with my phone.

Congrats! This is something that I've been wanting lately, I'm hoping to pick one up at some point in the next couple years. Might be a poor pic, but it does look like a nice rifle.

Now you gotta watch the movie "To Hell and Back". It's a great story in which Audie Murphy stars as himself, the most decorated soldier in WWII, but IMHO, the real star of the movie is the M1 Garand. Throughout the movie you see tons of them, with the foot soldiers shooting them from every position and angle. After the last time I watched the movie I had to go out and fire off about 20 clips, just cuz.

Nice. I've been wanting an M1 or M1A since I moved to PA. My first gun show in PA I went in looking for an M1. Do! Prices had doubled since 2002
By the time I get one prices will probably have quadrupled.

Only thing about them is buying ammo. Surplus is slowly getting a bit scarce and more expensive. In a pinch, if you have an adjustable gas plug you have the capability to shoot new 30.06 ammo (after you tune it). I've cut way back on shooting my Garand (to about 6-8 times a year, 35 -58 rounds per match). I'm down to a 1K rounds now. Of course, if you want it for hanging on the wall, disregard my above concerns.

Congrats on the new M1. Now you need a leather sling to go with it. You may find originals on ePay, gunbroker or at gun shows. What Price Glory has decent looking reproductions. Join the CMP and you can buy surplus ammo for under 50 cents a round with enblocs included.

Hello Gunny1969, please enlighten us. I'm not sure what you mean & since I don't have a M1 its a change to learn.
