New Laptop
I was going to get a new car with some of my tax return money, but decided against it, so I got my self a new laptop as my old Apple Powerbook G4 was seeing the end of its days. Been in the market for a gaming rig as Macintosh killed my inner child. Runs Crysis at a steady 40-47fps all day on High settings. The power supply on this thing is bigger than some Netbooks lol.
So i picked this guy up.... on a price mistake that dell made back in Mid May. Just got it last week though. these usually sell for 2,600.00+ but got it for 1196.00 shipped to my door. Took 5 weeks to get it though. Pretty good deal overall.
Dell XPS M1730
Intel T9500 2.6ghz Dual Core Processor
DUAL 1gb Nvidia 9800m GT SLI GPU's
500gb SATA drive
4GB of ram
Bluetooth
Wiped off Vista that came with the system and loaded the Window 7 Beta (win 7 is pretty decent major improvement over Vista)
Pics
The dual 9800m GT's are also no longer a option on this system as dell just discontinued them as they were allegedly conflicting with some proprietary dell media software. Now the only option is the 8700 GT GPUs.

You bought "The Beast" Welcome to the club. I don't have dual video cards though, but it works awesome. More a portable computer than a laptop, however....those suckers are heavy!
You got a steal, but you know that. The M1730s are great systems, did it take windows 7 well?

Re: New Laptop
I just got done setting up my laptop as my main PC. Its a much lower end unit but for programming and torrents its much better than my old PC. I have the dual monitors set up and its quite nice. Plays Fllight Sim 2004 just fine.
500 watt PS would cook the room. I had it up to 82 degrees in my home office in March with the doors closed...
I think the laptop has 80W MAX. Much nicer.
I HATE the recovery disks.. you have to make them yourself. I figure $400 for a laptop I should get $0.50 in DVDs included.

Re: New Laptop
Nice piece of Hardware. I just guess you don't do much travel.
I used to have laptops in that price range. They can be even fun for gaming.
But I completely converted to 10'' Netbooks. My current one lasts up to 8 hours on battery and my wife liked to get my previous one at the age of 6 months
JanSo long and thanks for all the fish.
