Just got my Letter, LTCF approved!

Got my letter in the mail Thursday. I mailed the app on May 8 (it was a Friday, so they probably didn't get it until the 11th). Both of my references faxed in their questionnaires on the 18th, and I had my letter Thursday, June 4. I know some counties issue on the spot, but since Pike isn't one of them, I guess 27 days isn't that bad.

Providing references only cost me two phone calls, but I just don't understand the logic of it. It's not like you're going to give them the names of anyone who might have something bad to say about you. All it really establishes is that you know two people.

I'm in an on the spot issue county so mine were never even called... like you said all it proves is you know two people who in the case of Pike County will fill out a questionaire for you.
Congrats on the LTCF, Welcome to the ranks, don't be afraid to try OC once in awhile, but only when & where you are comfortable doing so. (I do both but find I more often CC or partially cover)
Important thing is to carry everywhere you are able. I know people who have the LTCF but hardly ever carry.
That LTCF isn't going to stop an attacker if it's not accompanied by actually C'ing the F

I envy you guys who are in counties that issue on the spot. Shows that your Sheriffs understand the background check is what matters and the references are pretty much worthless. My references didn't have to fax their letters. They could have mailed them but they faxed them as a favor to me to eliminate the mailing time and hopefully speed up the process.

I do plan to carry all the time. The way I see it, once you get your LTCF, carrying is pretty much a moral obligation. Maybe I've read Uncle Ted's books one too many times, but that's my take on it.
